    IRIS REPORT 2023

Photo: takuki (Flickr) Chinese neighbourhoods are in decline across North America, and Montreal is no exception. This decline can be attributed to a crisis in the neighbourhood's current development model, which dates back to the 20th century. In this fragile context, both members of the Chinese community and various public authorities are exploring solutions that would renew the development model of Montreal's Chinatown with a view to inclusion, preservation, and vitality. This document aims to contribute to this reflection by presenting the factors contributing to the neighbourhood's decline and identifying levers that could contribute to a renewed development model for Montreal's Chinatown.
